What is Rahu Kaal?
Rahu Kaal, also called Rahu Kalam, is a period of about 90 minutes each day that is ruled by the shadow planet Rahu. In Vedic astrology this window is considered inauspicious for starting anything new - a business, a journey, a deal or an important purchase.
The timing of Rahu Kaal is different for each weekday and varies with your location, since it is calculated from sunrise and sunset. Most people simply avoid scheduling important events during this window.
Rahu is one of the two shadow planets (the other being Ketu), and it is associated with confusion, illusion and obstacles. This is why Rahu Kaal is traditionally avoided for auspicious beginnings.
